SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE

Total of 21 years of progressively responsible experience in research institutions and as consultant in the field of environmental sciences, with a focus on water resources management and climate adaptation strategies in developed and developing countries. He has worked at the University of Genova, Italy (2002-2007) and at the University of Florida, USA (2007-2011), in urban water management and diffuse pollution control, coordinating 14 monitoring programmes for stormwater runoff characterization; as a Marie-Curie Experienced Researcher at the University of Sheffield, UK, in hydrological modelling of Nature-Based-Solutions (NBS) (2011-2013); from 2014 as a Lecturer at the University of Leeds, UK – Water, Public Health and Environmental Engineering, working on research programmes on NBS, flood models, climate adaptation strategies, resilience of transport infrastructure, sustainable water management in the country of work and in Sub-Saharan Africa. From 2016 to 2019 serving as Leeds City representative at EUROCITIES Water Working Group and at the EU Urban Water Agenda 2030 (UWA2030) core group. He is currently working as a Senior Research Advisor for the UNESCO Chair for Climate Change Resilience and Sustainability at Strathmore University, Nairobi, Kenya and as a Water Expert within the Natural Sciences Sector of UNESCO’s Regional Office for East Africa and as.
