Strathmore University is committed to implementing a strategic vision which it considers critical in assuring its continued role as Kenya’s and indeed Africa’s premier university. To achieve this vision, the University is benchmarking itself with the world’s best universities for quality and best practices in teaching and research. The research related objectives from the plan to which the University’s research agenda should correspond to, are: to establish Strathmore University as a centre of excellence in teaching and research; to provide facilities and support for innovative research and extension services; to provide a conducive environment for the continuous education and improvement of staff in their academic and professional careers; to forge academic partnerships and links with other academic institutions, the professions, industry and commerce and to be at the forefront of technological innovation and its specific application within the local context.

Research is a long term investment in the future and the relationship between input and outcome is not necessarily linear and neither is it shortterm. A comprehensive approach to supporting research within the University is critical in developing the next generation of research leaders in the University, encourage existing staff not yet engaged in research and to grow and transform the current profile of active researchers.
